Allen Roland's Top Ten Turkeys of the Year

I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land: _{Jon Stewart}

Oxford definition of Turkey: A theatrical failure; an absolute flop.

Turkey # 1 - THE WAR WITH IRAQ . Let's face it ~ the illegal war and occupation of Iraq fits the definition of turkey to a T ~ it has been a theatrical failure and an absolute flop.

Turkey # 2 - THE MEDIA . The media, in general, have absolutely failed and flopped in their historic responsibility of balanced reporting and constructive dissent.

Turkey # 3 - PAUL WOLFOWITZ . The architect of the misguided Iraq war and now immortalized by Michael Moore while caught combing his hair with his own spit on camera.

Turkey # 4 - DICK CHENEY . Darth Vader himself , the grand puppeteer, whose grandiose neo-conservative dreams of empire building are sinking in the quicksand of Iraq.

Turkey # 5 - GEORGE W BUSH . The AWOL cheerleader and puppet of Cheney's grand designs whose refusal to admit to any mistakes makes him the new king of denial ~ a crown once worn by Bill Clinton.

Turkey # 6 - TONY BLAIR . Bush's poodle who became Tonto to Bush's lone Ranger and is now twisting in the wind ~ for Bush no longer needs him.

Turkey # 7 - COLIN POWELL . The good soldier allowed himself to be blatantly used and manipulated by Cheney/Bush and then was cruelly cast aside after the elections.

Turkey # 8 - JOHN KERRY . Sold out to the undecided voters when he became Bush-lite by saying he would still have attacked Iraq , knowing what he knows now. As such, he lost his progressive base and credibility as a formidable candidate.

Turkey # 9 - BILL CLINTON . A legend in his own mind who single-handedly led the Democratic party to the right and away from its progressive roots. His massive and rambling self-serving library will do little to distract from the obvious ~ his only mark in history may well be the stain on Monica Lewinsky's dress.

Turkey # 10 - THE 51% OF VOTERS WHO VOTED FOR BUSH . To them goes the responsibility for the economic and fiscal abyss that lies ahead as well as the final confirmation of the dumbing down of America.

I'm sure I missed some obvious turkeys but don't worry ~ there are plenty of left overs.
