Moving Towards the Light

Tropism is the deep and innate tendency to grow or move towards an external stimulus. All plants experience it when they grow or move towards the external stimulus of light . But I would argue that we all have that innate instinct or aspiration to grow or move towards our own internal stimulus of light which lies deepest within us and reveals itself as a profound state of love, joy and soul consciousness.

I recently experienced this when I was in Seattle for a series of lectures and booksignings . I experienced my own light by just sharing the joy of who I was and what I deeply felt. Desk clerks, concierges, waitresses and many others could not do enough for me ~ and all I did was fully and joyfully share myself . They were being drawn towards the light !

Now , what would happen if we all began to take full responsibility for the love, joy and soul consciousness deepest within us ~ we would all become a beacon of light in a world of spiritual darkness.

We are all now being drawn collectively into a war which is being fueled by a vengeful President who cannot forgive Saddam for trying to assassinate his father. Sounds petty doesn't it ~ but it's the only rational explanation for his determined march towards an increasingly unpopular war , besides the obvious connection with oil.

In Greek, forgive means " to let go " and that means letting go of resentment which in the end impedes our own growth and progress. That is exactly what is happening to our country as we watch our deflicit climb and economy stagger under the weight of this inevitable war. In every instance where I have I acted in revenge ~ the initial euphoria has always rapidly given away to a distinct loss of self respect and self esteem. Are we not, as a country, headed in that same direction ?

Congressman Dennis Kucinich writes in Earthlight ;

"Violence is not inevitable , war is not inevitable. Nonviolence and peace are inevitable .... This is the promise of light which overcomes darkness . This is the promise of peace which overcomes war ."

We can no longer be silent ~ we can only let our light shine by giving ourselves a voice and letting our collective light penetrate and overcome the darkness. That means writing letters , signing petitions , joining marches and letting your voice be heard.

Today is Martin Luther Kings birthday and his words still ring true;

"A time comes when silence is betrayal . Even when pressed by the demands of inner truth , men do not easily assume the task of of opposing their government's policy , especially in time of war..."

The time has come !
Let your voices be heard as we move toward the light.
