Peace Begins With Me

The terrorist attacks in New York and Washington on September 11th (911) are an emergency WAKE UP call for this country, as the world leader, to go beyond violence and finally surrender to mutual co-operation and love.

We, as a nation, are now on a common playing field with virtually every country on this planet who have been violated by either war or terrorism.

We can no longer calmly read the morning newspaper or watch the television news and be detached from the hatred and violence we see all around us and throughout the world. We have been violated or raped, to put it more strongly, and we will never feel quite as safe as we did before September 11th, 2001.

PEACE BEGINS WITH ME is a bumper sticker I used to have and it certainly applies here and now.

• As the world's # 1 supplier of arms and weapons - which are often used against ourselves - we can no longer play this heartless game.
• As the world's # 1 model of domestic violence, murder and teenage suicide - we must heal ourselves.

It starts with each one of us and it means going beneath our individual anger and resentment to the deep sadness that produced it and eventually to the spring of love and joy that lies deepest within us all.

It cannot happen painlessly, as we see this enacted on a world wide basis, but it must initially begin with each one of us. The extraordinary thing that happens, when we make this shift in consciousness ( from ego to soul consciousness ) is that we begin to not only see through different eyes but we also see our part in a slowly evolving loving plan.

One of my favorite quotes is from the LITTLE PRINCE and it applies here :

"IT IS ONLY THROUGH THE HEART THAT ONE SEES CLEARLY - WHAT IS ESSENTIAL IS INVISIBLE TO THE HUMAN EYE".

When we begin to see through the heart we will begin to see beneath the surface violence and hatred that permeates and separates our world, such as the recent terrorist attack, and we will realize that the forces of light and love have propelled these acts to the surface of our consciousness so that we can take the necessary action to claim our deepest urge to unite, love and cooperate with one another.

It's time to wake up and take your part in this universal loving plan. Do you want to live in a world of love and compassion or a world of hatred and revenge.

It's our choice and COMPASSION AND PEACE BEGINS WITH OURSELVES.
